Secure Your House Without Paying For A Burglar Alarm

Many people think that home security is the same as an alarm system. But actually is a burglar alarm only a small part of the security of your house. If you read the rest of this article you can learn more about how you also can secure your home.

In many cases, the key to home security is actually the windows. Houses with less secure windows get broken into far more often than houses with secure ones, as windows are the number one point of entry for burglars. You should always make sure to use the toughest glass you can, and have locks fitted to the windows.

Always remember to close the window when you leave your home; and it also means the one high up. Even though you do not expect the burglar to enter there, they will. And never leave a ladder lying outside your house. Lock it away in a garage or shed.

While windows are the weakest point, doors does also often have their weaknesses. To secure the best they have to be bulky and sturdy. They must also have a good lock that cannot be forced easily. And make sure you do not lose your keys; especially if you store them together with something with your address on.

Of course, that's not to say that alarms aren't effective, although for the most part they are better as a deterrent than they are at detecting and helping to catch a burglar. Fitting a visible alarm to the front and back of your house is the simplest thing you can do to put a burglar off (they'll go for your neighbors instead), but a well-made fake alarm box generally works just as well for this as a real one.

Automatic light on the front and the back that turn on when someone comes close is also a good deterrent. And a bonus is that it is convenient for you when you come in the evening.

A few simple advices can make your home a much more secure place. And the low price is worth paying to avoid the risk of an unpleasant surprise that a burglary is.
