There's no place like home, therefore it is vital to keep it protected at all times. The best method to do this is with an alarm system. Many people think they can do the installation themselves, but it's more reliable to have a professional alarm installation. The big reason is because you need to be 100% sure that it is properly installed. If you missed out on the tiniest detail, your home security could be at risk.

Even if you're fairly decent with installing technology, it is still safer and better to hire a professional to do your alarm installation for you. It will provide reassurance that everything was done properly. They will also know how to install the alarm quickly and as swiftly as possible with as few disruptions to your home as possible.

Another important reason why people should allow the professionals to do their alarm installation is that in the event that it is not installed properly. If in the unfortunate event that your home is broken into due to your alarm system being improperly installed, it would be the company's fault.

You can actually watch the professional alarm installation just to add another level of security for your home. Since it is the installers job and they know the system, they will know how it needs to be installed and be able to notice if something was amiss. Another added benefit is that you can ask for a detailed explanation of how it all works.

People will always try and install their own alarm system, it happens all the time, but with so many benefits of hiring a professional alarm installer, why would you? Because you want to save a bit money is not a good excuse to risk the safety of your family and your home. You bought the alarm system for a reason right? So getting it installed properly and professionally is just logical.

by Mike Darling

Even if you don't have a gas leak detector in your house, you can tell if you have a leak in your house through the following ways...

Rotten egg fumes are in your house. Since gas is odorless in its pure state, the gas provider puts in a very distinct rotten egg smell to warn you if you have a leak.

You see dirt coming out of the ground, which means that an outdoor pipe has burst, or you hear a hissing noise.

Theres a good chance that you have a leak if the connections to a natural gas appliance are broken or loose.

When you find out the general location of the leak, the next thing you have to do is to pinpoint the exact source of the leak. You can easily do this by mixing some soap and water and applying it to where you think the leak is.

After you apply the soapy mixture you should start seeing bubbles, which will tell you exactly where the leak is located. You may be fortunate and have some bubbles coming from the connection, at the end of the tube, which means that all you have to do is tighten it a bit. Make sure not to shut off the gas valve, or you will have no gas to help you spot the source of the leak.

Some online sources of information tell you to immediately evacuate your house if you suspect gas in your house and others say that it is okay to stay and fix it yourself. What should you do? Use your own intuition. If the rotten odor smell is not that much, repair it yourself. If the smell is overpowering, by all means, evacuate your house and call 911.

Regardless of whether you stay or leave your house, you cannot use any electrical devices (this even means no telephone use). An electrical spark may ignite the gas in the air and make an explosion. It goes without saying that you should not smoke as well.

What if you do not smell or hear anything that points to a gas leak? How can you be absolutely sure that you do not have one? This is where gas leak detector products come in handy, which you can get at your local home improvement shop or online, and which go for around $50 to $300.

When browsing gas leak detectors, it is better if you first read user reviews, online, from sites such as Amazon. The main problem with these devices is that they make many false alarms. You want one with good sensitivity.

To protect your home or business you need to have a solid alarm monitoring system. An alarm alone is simply not enough. All too often people mistake an alarm going off as a false alarm, which it often is. But, when the real deal comes round, you want a response and the best way that you can guarantee a response is with a security company monitoring your alarm status.

Whether you have an alarm monitoring system for thievery or fire or both, having a 24-hour monitoring system is the best and smart way to protect your property.

An alarm monitoring system is the smart way to look after your assets at your property. Especially nowadays where a lot of clever thieves know how to render an alarm system useless. But, when you have a specialist company monitoring your alarm systems, tampering with it will set off a silent alarm and the monitoring company will dispatch someone to investigate. Now compare this with an ordinary alarm, thieves can penetrate your home or business and steal everything, what's worse is that you could be at home when this happens.

Fire alarm monitoring greatly increases the chances of the fire department getting to your home in time. The moment the alarm sounds, the monitoring company will immediately dispatch the fire department and any other appropriate authorities to your home and business. Compare this to a stand-alone fire alarm which might not even be noticed right away and the amount of time between the alarm going off and the authorities being called in could be wider than necessary.

Alarm monitoring is also important when you have a senior citizen living alone. If they have a personal alarm and it goes off, the monitoring company can send an ambulance and alert appropriate family members or friends of a problem. This kind of alarm monitoring saves lives every day and is essential in safeguarding the lives of older loved ones. Precious minutes can be saved when a monitoring company is watching over those who may have trouble getting around the house on their own. No matter what your specific situation is you will find having an alarm monitoring system in place can provide a lot of peace of mind for sure.

Alarm systems are your first defense against robbers and disasters. You must protect your assets from fire and thievery and a good alarm system is the way to go. There are various types of systems available and theres always one to fit your specific needs, whether it is a burglar or fire alarm system. Depending on your needs, there are stand-alone systems and monitoring systems. The one thing to remember is to get the best alarm within your budget. Never scrimp when it comes to protecting your assets.

Stand alone alarm systems are generally okay, but you have to bear in mind that a lot of the time people just ignore a sounding alarm mainly because they think that it is just a false alarm. Those are the risks you take when dealing with a stand-alone system. In the case of a break in, a lot of criminals know how to get easily get around such alarms no matter how sophisticated the system may be. Ultimately, they can get in and out before the authorities are notified.

With stand-alone fire alarm systems, even the fire department can be delayed depending on how long it takes for someone to call them. This can be a situation where a delay can result in total destruction of your home or business. Even if the alarm goes off, it is hard to say when someone will notify the fire department.

The best alarm systems are those that are connected to a monitoring company as this will help to limit the disaster. When an alarm is triggered, the monitoring company is notified immediately and can contact the proper authorities saving precious time. With a burglar alarm you have the assurance that the thief will most likely be caught and with fire alarms, the damage will be smaller.

You should make every effort to protect your hard earned assets from unnecessary loss. Especially with the technology currently available, there is little reason not to protect yourself and your assets. Plus alarm systems are relatively cheap when you compare it to the complete loss of your home or business. Invest in the protection of yourself from burglars and fire with the proper alarm system.

Security systems are essential for your home or business. The worst feeling in the world is when someone sneaks into your property and steals your possessions. It is a feeling of violation. You only need to think about it briefly before your realize that precautions must be taken to protect yourself and your property. Fortunately, most thieves are just cowards and once they're aware that a building is properly alarmed they will try their luck somewhere else.

Security systems are designed to foil the actions of would be thieves. Losing your possessions is bad enough when you are not at home or your office. But what if you happened to be home when a stranger makes their way into your house. There's the possibility that they will panic and harm you, your family or your co-workers. That is the worst possible situation one could be in, but a good alarm system is helps fight against any of this happening.

Today's security systems are advanced to the point where you can be sure your property is safe and secure. Yet there are additional things you can also do to further protect your property alongside a solid security system and that is to have a solid bolt lock on every window and door.

Each time you arm your security system you should also go around to each and every window and door lock to make sure they are secured. A majority of robberies tend to be inside jobs and in the case of a business, an unhappy employee can easily leave a door or window unlocked before they leave.

Any good security system is generally reinforced by good lighting. A clearly lit property can be really discouraging to thieves. Thieves like to work in the dark so their moves will not be detected. It's crucial to darkness spots and install motion sensitive lighting there. This kind of lighting will surprise any thief and send them packing.

by Jennifer Bales

There is additional attention given to disaster response, emergency supplies and emergency planning and there has been a surge in sales of 72 hour go bags and emergency kits, sometimes called bug out bags. Many kits have the same supplies.

All Kits contain basic tools, and hygiene and first aid supplies. The product line up from each category depends on how many individuals the kit is supposed to support and, not surprisingly, the cost. Unless you assemble a kit one piece at a time, it's hard to fond something perfectly suited to your family. But that needs to change. Soon you'll easily be able to include an assortment of other useful products like GPS trackers, supplementary power, equipment repair kits and more choices for food, water and communication. But something that I feel is missing from the current kits are personal defence and security options and I think that's a mistake. Consider what kind of situations your preparing for. Since natural and man made disasters and emergencies are the reasons we buy these emergency supplies, ask yourself, under those circumstances, will people be at their best?

Not too likely, is it? The sad truth is that whe society is threatened we'll see vandalism, looting, theft and violent crimes. It puts defense products in a new light - doesn't it? There are lots of products to choose from so if you're opposed to something that seems too luch like a weapon you can at least have some alarms, or police quality flashlights. At least. Also, there are lots of OC pepper spray alternatives- as long as you are living where pepper sprays are legal. Also there are pepper sprays used for animal deterrents and those sprays are more widely allowed. You'll find your choices are not limited.

Tasers & Stun guns are also candidates to include with your kits. Like it or not, they could very easily prove to be necessary. If you do include them with your kits, be sure that you check them periodically to make sure they're functioning properly. And don't forget about the batteries. While we're talking about it, store them safely, far from the reach of children. They're weapons that can be harmful. Although a taser can be used as a stun gun after the cartridges have been discharged, you'll probably want to have an extra cartridge on hand.

Finally, you should really consider some self defense training. You'll learn more than physical technique. You'll learn how to stop certain situations from escalating and how to not look like a victim. Actually, you might want to learn these skills anyway.

So when you're bringing all your emergency supplies into one place, give some though about whether there should be some defense products in there as well.

Access control system (ACS) can offer top notch security for both private and commercial premises. An ACS is used for preventing unauthorized entries into restricted areas. Access control systems can also play the role of permission granter- a smart one actually. An ACS can be programmed to allow only authorized people to enter. When an unauthorized person seeks permission to enter, you can or cannot grant permission for entry. An ACS can also record check-in and check-out time of company personnel.

The systems offers better and increased security for unwanted people and trespassers of all kind. State of the art access systems can also be a very good idea for managing your workers.

For both commercial and residential facilities, functional versatilities are integral parts of Access Control Systems. An access control system can be truly useful for facilities with multiple entry points. Access Control Systems can come on different hardware platforms. Here are some common ones-

Control panels - Control panels are used with many access control systems. You interact with numeral keys or buttons here. But modern systems also have touch screens as interactive interfaces. Such arrangements are directly tied up with the locking or releasing system. If you know the right pin codes, all you have to do is enter them and the lock will open after verification of your entries.

Magstripe Readers - Magstripe Readers are used extensively with access control systems. They are also renowned as Swipe Card readers. Their usage is simple yet efficient. For instance, a company can issue encoded cards to its employees.

Proximity Readers - Long Range readers happen to be the closest counterparts of proximity readers. But both of them are usable with standard access control platforms. This hardware has sensors to read encoded cards. This means there is no swiping. Proximity Readers come with the functionality of reading cards from distance up to 100mm.

Smartcard Readers - They enable access control systems for processing additional info for additional services of a company or private premises. Good examples are time-ins and outs record maintenance. Access control systems usually have the capacity to be interfaced with payroll coordination, parking scheme, catering or even vending services.

Identification methods The bottom line of access control system is to identify visitors or non-employees. For efficient identification, 3 methods are used in access control systems. a) Door bell system- These systems alerts people inside a premises. b) Audio intercom system- They allow visitors to speak with people inside the premises. c) Camera equipped audio intercom systems- When you are inside the building, they allow you to actually see and talk with a visitor. If you grant access to the visitor, the entry door is unlocked remotely. At this point you can send someone to escort the visitor.

In some instances, cards and tags are issued for apposite identifications. Access control systems are great way to control, monitor and grant access into or out of premises.
