Pepper Spray And Why We Need It

I am getting on into my senior years and my family believes it is time I had some personal security protection. It all started because a neighbor who lives next door had his home broken into. He walked in as the thieves were leaving. They attacked him on their way out. He got a few bumps and bruises in ordeal. He is doing ok now. But because of this, my family suggested getting some pepper spray.

In the world in which we live, it is difficult to understand how people can be so horrible to each other. But, let's face it, crime is a part of our lives and we must do what we can to keep ourselves safe. I do not have a problem with anyone who chooses to have a handgun. However, guns can be lethal and are just not for me. I would rather use OC spray as my self defense weapon.

I did not know that defensive spray came in so many different shapes and sizes. Some look like lipstick, and others like hand weights walkers use to intensify their workout. There is one that looks just like a ball point pen! Can you believe it, they look just like writing pens!

Also, the color ranges are wide. I remember seeing some OC spray several years ago at a gun store. It was nothing impressive. But, these that I saw online were very colorful. You can get one to match your purse. I think that is funny, getting one to match an article you already have. I saw one in my favorite color, and that is purple. I may get that one.

It's good that a permit is not needed in order to carry mace pepper spray. I do not have the time to take a class. With pepper spray I can simply follow the directions and on I go. Buying it online is quick and easy. As soon as it is in my hands, I can use it!

I want a good measure of self-defense. Even though the prices seemed reasonable enough, why spend money if it is not going to work for me at all? This amount of spray seems to be able to do the job. Even if the perpetrator is a large person, using the pepper spray should stop them from harming me. Besides, I do not want to kill them. I just want to stop them.

I think this is the perfect idea for anyone. I believe it is imperative to protect yourself from all the violence which is out there. The world is getting worse and worse, so why wait until the inevitable happens? It makes more sense to me to get some pepper spray now and have it with me when it is needed. I believe I will get one for my friend as well. She needs some protection too.

Anyway, I chose some pepper spray that looks like a women's ring. Yes, that is correct. It looks just like jewelry. I never saw anything like it. It captured my heart when I laid eyes upon it. I can keep it with me at all times when leave my house because I wear it on my finger. I do not know if I will ever need it. But, if there ever comes a time when I do, I will be sure to use it. I love my life and want to keep it for as long as I can.

Lethal vs. Non-Lethal Weapons, You Decide

It is important for people to be ever vigilant about their personal safety because we live in an unsafe world. Self-defense weapons is one way to secure your safety and these weapons can be categorized as lethal and non-lethal. Let's compare the two choices.

Lethal

Rifles, shotguns, handguns and knives are considered lethal weapons because they are deadly and their effects can be everlasting. Most of the weapons that fall into this category require the user to get special training in the proper use of such them. And all states call for a license or special permit to bear these arms. It takes regular practice to become skilled in using this type of weaponry. If your attacker is unarmed and you make the decision to use a lethal weapon to defend yourself, it might be viewed by the courts as a use of "excessive force". Take into account that your firearm might be used against you if your attacker manages to subdue you and take away your weapon. These weapons can also harm innocent bystanders if the user isn't careful. Lethal weapons can cost a lot to possess and the responsibility of ownership is much greater. If you are disposed to using deadly force to protect yourself then you will have to live with the consequences and remorse for the remainder of your life.

Non-Lethal Self Defense Weapons

A non-lethal weapon is a device purposely designed to be used to bring someone to their knees without causing fatal harm or and permanent injury. Unlike standard arsenal, non-lethal weapons use a method other than deadly force to reach the objective. Examples of non-lethal weapons are defense sprays such as pepper spray and mace, and energy devices such as stun guns and tasers. When properly used, non-lethal weapons will not cause severe injury, death or have any permanent consequences. Yet they are effective in stopping an attacker long enough to give you time to flee. A license or permit is not needed in order to carry any of these kinds of weapons. Any person can use them with very little or no special tutoring. Many have safety precautions, which will render the device inoperative if an assailant takes it away from you. Another benefit of non-lethal weapons is there is lower risk of innocent bystanders being seriously harmed because none of the effects are lasting. They are much more affordable than other types of weaponry.

The Choice is Yours

The type of self-defense weapon you decide to carry, weather lethal or non-lethal, is a personal choice. Keep in mind, being armed and prepared to use a self-defense weapon won't stop the progress of all crime, however, it can considerably diminish your odds for an attack and greatly improve your chances for survival if you are attacked.
