Many people are not really sure what magnetic locks are. Well, a magnetic lock is a lock that is equipped with electromagnets and armature plates. Magnetic locks are more expensive than regular locks. A good magnetic lock can cost you as much as three hundred dollars. Some are even more expensive. A good conventional lock will cost you about forty dollars. It is possible for a magnetic lock to be wired into your existing electric system. This will cost you money on your electric bill.
Magnetic locks hold many advantages and provide a number of benefits that just arent available with conventional locks. It is possible to pick a conventional lock. However, magnetic locks operate off of electricity so they are lock pick proof. Magnetic locks use many different coding mechanisms to secure their locks. These reliable locks operate off of DC current. They can be powered using twenty to twenty four volts of DC current depending on each lock.
There are a number of things you need to take into consideration after install magnetic locks in your business or office. Maintenance it required to ensure that your magnetic locks are operating correctly. Magnetic locks are what is known as fail safe meaning that once they lose their source of power they will automatically unlock. It is important to make sure that the lock has power supplied to it all the time. You will need to check the batteries often.
There are many different types of magnetic locks. Each magnetic lock will have a pull pound number. Magnetic locks with a specific pull pound number are more suitable for certain situations. Lets say you purchase a magnetic lock that has a three hundred pull pound. You should use that lock to secure a cabinet or something else lightweight. If you want to be able to control access to a room that has a lot of traffic then you will at least need a magnetic lock with a twelve hundred pull pound.
There are many advantages to use magnetic locks. There are no interconnecting parts when it comes to magnetic locks. Therefore, magnetic locks are much easier to install than conventional locks. Magnetic locks tend to be more durable than conventional locks as well. Magnetic locks are much more durable and will last longer when they are used in a high traffic area. Conventional locks will wear out much faster due to their interconnection parts.
Magnetic locks provide a more tamper proof design because they are installed within the door frame making it extremely difficult to tamper with. In order for your magnetic lock to work efficiently it needs to be installed properly. The electromagnet and armature plate should be aligned up as close as possible in order for the lock to work properly. Take your time whenever you are installing your magnetic lock to make sure it is installed correctly and make sure that all the wires are hidden inside the door frame.
The main advantage of magnetic locks is their ability to be used as a part of an entire electronic security system. Many times a magnetic lock will be attached to a keycard reader. It is also possible for a magnetic lock to be hooked up to a computer that monitors an entire buildings security. The locking mechanism can then be controlled by anyone with access to the computer. From there you can lock and unlock the doors.

Access control system (ACS) can offer top notch security for both private and commercial premises. An ACS is used for preventing unauthorized entries into restricted areas. Access control systems can also play the role of permission granter- a smart one actually. An ACS can be programmed to allow only authorized people to enter. When an unauthorized person seeks permission to enter, you can or cannot grant permission for entry. An ACS can also record check-in and check-out time of company personnel.
The systems offers better and increased security for unwanted people and trespassers of all kind. State of the art access systems can also be a very good idea for managing your workers.
For both commercial and residential facilities, functional versatilities are integral parts of Access Control Systems. An access control system can be truly useful for facilities with multiple entry points. Access Control Systems can come on different hardware platforms. Here are some common ones-
Control panels - Control panels are used with many access control systems. You interact with numeral keys or buttons here. But modern systems also have touch screens as interactive interfaces. Such arrangements are directly tied up with the locking or releasing system. If you know the right pin codes, all you have to do is enter them and the lock will open after verification of your entries.
Magstripe Readers - Magstripe Readers are used extensively with access control systems. They are also renowned as Swipe Card readers. Their usage is simple yet efficient. For instance, a company can issue encoded cards to its employees.
Proximity Readers - Long Range readers happen to be the closest counterparts of proximity readers. But both of them are usable with standard access control platforms. This hardware has sensors to read encoded cards. This means there is no swiping. Proximity Readers come with the functionality of reading cards from distance up to 100mm.
Smartcard Readers - They enable access control systems for processing additional info for additional services of a company or private premises. Good examples are time-ins and outs record maintenance. Access control systems usually have the capacity to be interfaced with payroll coordination, parking scheme, catering or even vending services.
Identification methods The bottom line of access control system is to identify visitors or non-employees. For efficient identification, 3 methods are used in access control systems. a) Door bell system- These systems alerts people inside a premises. b) Audio intercom system- They allow visitors to speak with people inside the premises. c) Camera equipped audio intercom systems- When you are inside the building, they allow you to actually see and talk with a visitor. If you grant access to the visitor, the entry door is unlocked remotely. At this point you can send someone to escort the visitor.
In some instances, cards and tags are issued for apposite identifications. Access control systems are great way to control, monitor and grant access into or out of premises.
