Find Out About Your Home Security

Your home is your personal refuge. It should be the safest place for you, your family, and your love ones to reside. The last thing you want to do is let chaos get inside. The outside world is filled with craziness and this order and you want to make sure that you don't let it get in.

The only things up to chance. Take the necessary precautions to make sure that you don't invite disaster. The first thing you should do about home safety is think about how a burglar would look at your own home. If you can identify any strengths and weaknesses that exists, take action to avoid someone taking advantage of them.

Starting off lets take a look at the windows. Are the windows old and easy to get into? Would they be easy to break or pry open? If they are, then it might make a good idea to replace the Windows or get new locking mechanisms. Again, don't leave it to chance.

If thieves can see the locks of the windows from outside, it might make them target your home because they can figure out how to get inside. Consider getting concealed locks. And if the locks on your Windows had keys make sure you store them in a safe place. Make sure that all the downstairs windows have their own locks and the windows are not easily reached in. Consider skylights like Windows too. Get locks for them.

Okay, let's take a look at your home doors. Did you know that over two thirds of all break-ins originate at an unlocked door? You can prevent this by making sure that you lost the doors, but also make sure that you have good locks. All of your outside doors should have deadbolts with at least 1 inch of the row. Also, the strike plates should have screws that are at least 3 inches long. All exterior doors should be made out of metal or solid hardwood. By adding steel strips and plates this will also reinforce the door jam and make it stronger.

When it comes to hinges, they should be located on the inside with nonremovable pins. You can also install a rim lock to the inside of the door. This will add to the security. What a rim lock does is automatically lock the door once it is closed. For all all leading doors, consider a bolts for the top and bottom of the door. Make sure you have a door viewer on all outward doors. This way you can see out before you open the door.

Never leave keys in obvious or convenient hiding places-thieves already know all the tricks in the book. Remember to change the locks if moving to a new place. Don't leave keys near a door or window inside the house as they can be fished out with magnets or rods.

Lighting is very important to safety also. All well lit entrance will deter potential thieves. You can find many good security lighting systems at home improvement stores. They don't take a lot of power, and are very economical. Get a set that is not easy to be detected or disconnected.

A home security system may be in your best interest. Getting a home alarm is economical and they are easy to use. Why not invest in your own peace of mind? Taking these precautions and being prepared are sure steps to lead a safe and happy home life.

Effects of Pepper Spray

There are many effects of pepper spray you might consider if you are thinking about using this type of self defense option. Many things to think about is that it is one of the most effective deterrents, it works longer than tasers or stun guns, it will cause coughing and choking, and it burns really bad.

For years police officers have used pepper spray as a non violent method of control in situations such as riots and perpetrators who resist arrest.

When you use pepper spray you are using something that works even more effective than stun guns and tasers. Stun guns work by disabling the nervous and the muscular system but only for a few moments.

All you have to do now is press down and spray. When you use pepper spray it is designed to be used in the face of an attacker. You need to be sure that you hold down the button of the spray can and use it liberally in their face.

Most spray pepper canisters feature a safety function to prevent accidental discharge, belt loops for easy carrying and quick deployment, and a serial number for quality-tracking purposes.

Pepper sprays do work and will protect you from being a victim of crime. If you use pepper sprays in conjunction with street smarts, a good stun gun, and some type of hand-to-hand self-defense classes, pepper sprays are a highly effective tool for staying safe and sound.

These defense sprays basically all do the same thing. They all cause burning watery eyes, burning sensations on the affected skin areas, disorientation, and some sort of respiratory distress.

An added benefit of pepper spray is that its effects last until treatment is received. This ensures that the attacker will not get up and pursue you, but will instead be forced to sit, blindly, and wait for law enforcement to arrive.

The product is available in a range of strengths, including those suitable for stopping dogs and bears, as well as human beings. And, since the canisters are available in a range of sizes, all you need to do is pick one that fits your hand or bag or pocket.

You don't want to empty your canister on the first blast, so short one or two second blasts aimed at the attackers' face are most effective. Pepper spray does expire, so check your pepper spray often and replace it every year or two. Stay alert and be safe.
